The medallion

As I mentioned a few posts ago in the representation and power of objects, this is the medallion, a beautiful silver dollar. It seems generic, but as with anything, it all depends on the meaning. For now, I'm keeping it closed, put away until I can think about it some more. It's kind of sad how I place too much emphasis on this one object--a piece of metal.

I don't know the whole story, but why would you want to hang onto something (anything) that doesn't give you joy? ~Debbie

We all place emphasis on certain objects in some way. Things are sentimental or symbolic. Maybe it's the "sufferer" in me, but I don't like to part with anything, even painful things. I just put them away somewhere. Only you know what is best for you. I hope you find peace about it soon...

Debbie, you are right in wondering that question. I don't know really. It's kind of like "why do we hold onto our scales?"

Kim, thank you for your input. For now, I'm just uncertain. I'll bring it up in therapy the next time I'm there.
