Some things have a happy ending

I thought I'd give a quick report to what happened to Tovah. After talking with my mom about it last night, she suggested I talk to the guy again and see about geting her back. I wasn't sure about this since it seemed like the cards had already been dealt. However, I thought giving it one last effort would be a good thing and at least make me feel like I'd tried my best.

I went down this afternoon when I knew the guy would be back from work. I saw little Tovah standing there in the driveway in the rain! I was so so sad for her. I picked her up and knocked on the door and asked to talk to the guy. I told him how I attached I was to her, and he said how he saw that last night and how he hated to take her from me. In the end, he let me have her and just asked that his boys could see her every so often which I said was completely fine. He knew she was going to a good home, better than what he could have provided. I also offered to help him find another dog that would suit his lifestyle better if he wanted.

By the way, they have three puppies from the same litter, and the litter was originally a dump off in a cardboard box a kid was carrying in another county!

So here's the lesson I've learned:
Sometimes, you have to fight for what you want, even when you are unsure of what will happen.

So little Tovah is now mine! You all don't know how happy this makes me feel. My eyes will now not be damp with tears of sadness but tears of joy.

Thank you for all your support.

Wow, that is amazing! I am so happy for you that that man recognized that you would make a good owner/mother for Tovah. And thanks for the moral of fighting to get what you want -- I need to hear that from time to time, too.

Everyone, thank you for all your support over these last 24 hours. My blog was one of the first places that I vented and talked about this. It reminded me the power of the internet.

One thing I'm reminded of with all this is how emotions can fly from one extreme to the other, and that it's really okay. I probably bawled my eyes out more this last day than I have in many years!
